I too would like to encourage the [http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ CC-BY-SA] license usage. All works I contribute (none at the moment) will follow this license. It allows the work to be copied, adapted, and used commercially as long as it is attributed and shared under the same license. It does not affect the legal status of any "public domain" works.
