What's the actual license?
The current edit box states that "you are also promising us that you wrote this yourself, or copied it from a public domain or similar free resource (see Project:Copyrights for details)". I just created the "Copyright" page myself just now to try to document a bit what's going on here, but it would be important to clarify what the license is for the documentation here. I would think "public domain" would be appropriate, but there isn't such a notion legally all over the world. For the record, Wikipedia english states the following: "You irrevocably agree to release your contributions under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL. You agree that a hyperlink or URL is sufficient attribution under the Creative Commons license." I consider my contributions so far to be public domain, but I would be happy to comply with CC-BY-SA or the GFDL. --TheAnarcat 18:22, 2 October 2010 (CDT)

- I too would like to encourage the CC-BY-SA license usage. All works I contribute (none at the moment) will follow this license. It allows the work to be copied, adapted, and used commercially as long as it is attributed and shared under the same license. It does not affect the legal status of any "public domain" works. --Kb3dfz 09:17, 23 December 2011 (PST)
- I think that makes the most sense too. Since it seems to be an opinion, lets run with that and change the license page to say that after date X that it's changed. Hardaker 07:52, 24 December 2011 (PST)
