Logging software - what is it?

Logging software is primarily a means of recording two-way contacts between amateur radio stations. They may also be used by short wave listeners (SWL) to record which stations have been heard.

The minimum details that should be recorded for accurate logging are; callsign, time - preferably in UTC, band, frequency, and signal data such as strength and readability.

Contesting loggers frequently include the ability to calculate a running score, as well as the ability to produce a log suitable for submission to the contest controllers.
