Yaesu FT-60
The Yaesu FT-60 is a dual band handheld FM transceiver manufactured by Yaesu Musen Co., Ltd. of Tokyo, Japan and distributed in North America by Yaesu USA of Cypress, California.
Introduced in 2004, the FT-60 remains a popular choice for new amateur radio operators as it is relatively inexpensive, retailing for about US$200 on average and selling for as low as US$145 among some online Yaesu dealers. It operates on the most common line-of-sight amateur radio bands, 2 meters and 70 centimeters at up to 5W with the included FNB-83 Ni-MH rechargeable battery. The FT-60 is capable of receiving both AM and FM transmissions in the commercial, public service and aircraft control bands. Reception of local NOAA weather broadcasts are accessible by pressing and holding the "1" key. The main tuning knob may then be used to select a channel.
